Frequently Asked Questions

For consumers using VouchedFor to find or review advisers

What is VouchedFor?

VouchedFor is the UK's leading review platform for financial and legal advisers. Around 2 million consumers use VouchedFor each year to find or check advisers.

VouchedFor advisers are checked more thoroughly than any other:

  • Rated and reviewed by people like you: We verify the identity of all reviewers, and never remove or edit negative reviews

  • Independently vetted: We check every adviser is authorised by the appropriate governing body, and confirm key details such as their fees and qualifications

  • Continuous monitoring: We follow-up with you to ensure you get the great advice you need

What is Elevation?

Elevation is a new platform that helps advisers and advice firms deliver first-class client experiences and meet Consumer Duty requirements using actionable data from client feedback.

Elevation charts an advice firm's progress vs. the industry across these 3 goals:

  1. Making great first impressions, increasing prospect conversion rate

  2. Delighting existing clients, driving advocacy and retention

  3. Safeguarding clients' best interests, mitigating risk

Elevation uses analysis of over 250,000 client reviews to show advice firms how they are doing against these goals as well as, crucially, the specific things they can do to improve.

The system also produces a Consumer Duty Report that advice firms can share with the regulator to evidence progress made against the four Consumer Duty outcomes.

Elevation is a distinct proposition to the VouchedFor directory. Think of it almost like a much more powerful client survey with the feedback it collects being private. Advisers who wish to can tap into the public value of this feedback (aka social proof) by also becoming verified members of VouchedFor. This means the relevant parts of the feedback they collect through Elevation will appears as client reviews on their public VouchedFor.co.uk profiles.

How can I find an adviser on the VouchedFor.co.uk website?

You can enter your postcode or city/town name and find the closest advisers to you, choosing what type of professional help you need. You can add more filters to your search, such as the level of your savings/pensions, the distance, or to only show advisers with advanced qualifications.

I have looked on the website, but I’m not sure who to contact, what can I do?

We recommend reading the adviser’s reviews to get an idea of how that adviser can help you. If you are unsure or have any questions, please give us a call on 0203 111 0583 and we'll help you find the best adviser for you.

How do reviews on VouchedFor work?

You will see two types of reviews on the website. One from verified clients, and one from those who have contacted advisers, but not yet become a client, which we call a ‘first impression’ review.

How do you calculate ratings for advisers?

An adviser's overall profile rating out of 5 stars is determined by the average sum of first impressions and the average sum client of reviews. It factors in the number of each type of review an adviser has, and the average score of both to find the total shown on the profile. A first impression review has half the impact towards the overall profile rating for an adviser compared to an existing client's review.

How can I be sure that reviews are genuine?

Verifying that reviews are genuine is incredibly important to us. All client reviews must be verified by the adviser as being a genuine client, and we conduct regular spot checks to look at evidence of professional relationships.

All first impressions are verified as being people who have contacted that adviser but not become a client yet. We welcome honest feedback from clients to give other consumers as much transparency as possible.

Where can I find reviews about the adviser’s firm?

You can access all the reviews linked to the advisers working at a particular firm once you are on the adviser’s profile. You will need to click on the ‘firm’ tab and then scroll down to ‘view firm profile’, clicking on it. You can also click the name of the firm in their headline at the top of their profile.

Will my review be publicly visible?

Most advisers use VouchedFor to publicly showcase all their reviews. In these cases, as long as your review is Verified, it will appear online.

However, some advisers use the platform to gather private feedback via our Elevation system (like a more powerful client survey). In these cases, they may in future choose to make some elements of your review (but not all) public too.

Whatever membership your adviser is on, some parts of your feedback will never be made public. It is made clear in the feedback form when you leave a review which parts are private and which are public.

I have submitted a review, but I have made a mistake, can I amend it?

We are happy to help you change your review, you can email us on customer_service@vouchedfor.co.uk (using the same email address the review was left with)  detailing how you would like the review to be amended or you can give us a call on 0203 111 0583.

Where can I read reviews about VouchedFor?

You can read reviews about us on Trustpilot. We are always looking to improve the service that we offer, so feel free to leave your own feedback after your experience with us.

Can I contact more than one adviser at the same time?

Yes, you can. Our mission is to help you find the most suitable adviser and we understand that you might like to have an initial discussion with more than one adviser to make your decision.

Is there any charge for the initial consultation with the adviser?

The VouchedFor website is free to use for consumers who are searching for an adviser. Many advisers offer a 30 minute or 1 hour free consultation, and you can see this on their profile. You can also filter by this in your initial search, by ticking the option that says ‘only show advisers with promotional offers’. Beyond this, advisers can explain their fees and charges to you when you get in touch with them.

How are VouchedFor’s Google Advertisements managed?

In 2021 Google introduced a change to its UK Financial Services Advertising Policy. The change requires advertisers on its platform that are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to be sponsored by a regulated firm as an ‘approved third-party’. In line with this policy change Octopus MoneyCoach, a trading style of TW11 Wealth Management Limited, an FCA authorised firm (reference number: 763630), has agreed to act as sponsor of VouchedFor Ltd’s Google adverts.
